Senior Project Manager – Marketing

Remote – US / Canada

GitHub is looking for a remote senior project manager to own end to end digital implementations, with an emphasis on the website. You’ll play a key role in the design and development process, working alongside engineers and designers to build beautiful, delightful, and performant pages that are viewed by millions of developers and set the bar for our industry. You will work cross-functionally with teams across GitHub and with vendors, contractors and partners, to manage schedules, costs, scope and quality. You will take ownership over successful project outcomes, set priorities, identify risks, drive timelines, and implement high-impact process improvements.

Remote Senior Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Own the successful execution of end to end digital launches
  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand project requests, gather requirements, define objectives, plan resources, and develop a clear and actionable project plan
  • Operate with breadth and depth to deliver on ambitious goals that require alignment and coordination across multiple organizations
  • Proactively identify process gaps and implement frameworks to achieve operational scale
  • Drive collaboration and communication between project stakeholders to ensure all teams are working toward the same goal
  • Own the execution of each project phase, from initiation and planning to launch and retrospectives
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify risk, scope technical work, and communicate trade offs so the project can be delivered on time
  • Craft status reports that provide context, narrative, data, and next steps so leadership is aware of rapidly evolving programs
  • Manage the sprint planning and resourcing for the site design and site engineering teams
  • Consistently be one step ahead in overcoming dependencies and blockers

Minimum qualifications for a Remote Senior Project Manager:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience working with design, development, and content teams
  • Proven ability to break down complex and/or ambiguous projects into manageable tasks
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with an aptitude for juggling multiple priorities at once
  • A track record of successfully proposing and implementing large-scale operational changes on a team
  • Well versed in project management tools, work breakdown structures, change management, and resource planning
  • A strategic self-starter with an ability to devise solutions and influence buy-in for complex problems with diverse, sometimes opposing, concerns
  • Customer obsessed. Constantly seeks out feedback and measures results to refine processes and improve the quality of output
  • Growth mindset. Always learning something new and thrives on new challenges
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humor
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications for a Remote Senior Project Manager:

  • Experience working with engineering teams and understanding of technical language
  • A deep understanding of design thinking frameworks, and a love for creative storytelling
  • A GitHub product user
  • Experience with using Asana
  • Previous experience in a strategic role: product manager, program owner, founder, etc
